After being summoned by Jawi, Turkish journalist now detained at KLIA

Turkish journalist Mustafa Akyol was detained at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) this evening.

"After being harassed and summoned by (the) Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi), Akyol (is) now being detained by immigration at KLIA," IRF said on Twitter. 


KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — Prominent Turkish journalist Mustafa Akyol’s lecture at the Nottingham University today has been postponed, after he was summoned by the Federal Territories Islamic Affairs Department (Jawi).

Host Islamic Renaissance Front’s (IRF) Dr Ahmad Farouk Musa confirmed news of Akyol being detained by Immigration authorities, but said he did have any further details at the moment.


“Our guest & renowned international author has being DETAINED in KLIA. We suspect it might have to do with JAWI. Creeping Talibanisasion,” IRF posted a tweet moments ago.
