The Zika virus is likely to have a muted impact on Malaysia’s public listed companies, namely glove makers, hospitality and retail players as the transmission rate is slow with limited number of cases.
The past few days surged in glove maker share prices was simply a knee-jerk market reaction to the Zika virus news. Uunlike the Influenza A (H1N1) virus or severe acute respiratory syndrome virus, the Zika transmission rate is very slow and will not have much impact on glove makers’ revenue and profit.
